CANCELLATION

Cancellation

We offer a full refund for any cancellation made at least 48 hours before your scheduled pickup time. We know plans change and life happens, so as long as you give us two days' notice we'll return every dollar with no questions asked. Cancellations made within 48 hours of pickup will receive a 50% refund of the total rental amount. No-shows or cancellations after pickup time has passed are charged the full rental fee.

To cancel, call us at (928) 555-0173 or email hello@lakepowellrentals.com with your booking confirmation number. We'll send a written confirmation of your cancellation and the refund amount. Refunds are issued to the original payment method within 5–7 business days.

DEPOSITS

Deposits

A $500 security deposit is held on the credit or debit card on file at the time of pickup. This is a temporary authorization, not a charge — no funds leave your account unless damage is assessed. The hold is released within 24 hours of your return, provided the boat comes back in the same condition it departed in. We'll do a brief walkaround with you at drop-off and note any concerns before you leave the dock.

If we cannot complete the return inspection at the time of drop-off (for example, on an after-hours return), we'll complete the inspection the following morning and contact you no later than noon. The deposit hold will be extended until the inspection is complete, but you will not be charged without prior notification and documentation.

DAMAGE

Damage

Renters are responsible for a $1,000 damage deductible for any incident that occurs during their rental period. The $500 deposit covers the first half of the deductible; the remaining $500 would be charged to the card on file. Damage assessed at more than $1,000 will be charged in full, with documentation and a third-party repair estimate provided before any additional charge is processed.

Common damage scenarios covered under the deductible include propeller strikes on submerged rock, hull abrasion from dock contact, and torn upholstery. Damage resulting from reckless or prohibited operation — including intentional groundings, alcohol-related incidents, or operation outside permitted areas — may void the deductible cap and be charged at full repair cost. We photograph every boat before and after each rental, and our team documents any pre-existing condition at pickup so there's never a dispute about what was there when you launched.

WEATHER REFUNDS

Weather refunds

When unsafe weather forces a cancellation, our standard cancellation policy does not apply — you'll receive a full refund or a no-fee reschedule regardless of how close to your departure the decision is made. Please see our Weather policy on the Safety page for the specific wind thresholds and how we determine when conditions are unsafe.

Weather refunds and reschedules are at our discretion based on the conditions at the marina at launch time. If you believe conditions are unsafe but we have not issued a weather cancellation, you may still cancel voluntarily under the standard 48-hour policy. We will never pressure you to take a boat out if you're uncomfortable — and if you reach out to us with weather concerns we'll work with you on a case-by- case basis.
